Anyone PREFER a pistol/revolver over the ol' 12g shotgun for home defense?

In my mind a fire arm is like a tool. You can't say one tool is better, because they are intended for different situations. They're is many answers for many situations. In my case, I live in a apartment. So I don't want a projectile going in to my neighbors bed room. It can happen with a shot gun but far less likely. To me that's much more of a realistic problem then a hostage situation. That might not be your case. Different strokes for different folks, theirs no right answer.
